STAY SAFE
Think about your safety and the safety of emergency responders and public
- RUN to a place of safety. Escape if you can
- Is there a safe route?
- Can you get there without exposing yourself to greater danger?
- Insist others leave with you
- Leave belongings behind
- How many casualties and/or subject(s) are there?
- If you cannot run, HIDE
- It's better to hide than confront
- Find hard cover from gunfire e.g. substantial brick work / heavy reinforced walls
- Cover from view does not mean you're safe, bullets go through glass, wood and metal
- If you can see the attacker, they may be able to see you
- Be aware of your exits, try not to get trapped
- Be quiet, silence your phone and turn off vibrate
- Lock / barricade yourself in
- When safe to do so, TELL the police. Dial 999
- How many attackers are there?
- Where were they last seen? Which way are they heading?
- Consider the safety of others.
- Can you describe the attackers?
- What weapons are they using? Rifles, hand guns, knives etc.

- Examples of weapons which might be used
- If you cannot speak or make noise, listen to the instructions given to you by the call taker.
